Road to Recovery: Bringing awareness to the live events industry during the pandemic

CHEK

On this week’s episode of Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, CHEK’s Jasmine Bala sits down with Doug Lyngard, owner of DL Sound and Lighting.

DL Sound and Lighting is an Island-based company that takes care of what you hear and the lights you see at live events, such as concerts, parties and festivals. With many venues closing their doors and limits on social gatherings, the industry is one of the hardest hit by the pandemic.

Since March 2020, the live music industry in Canada has reported an average revenue loss of 92 per cent and 64 per cent of the industry is at risk of permanent closure, according to the Canadian Live Music Association.

Lyngard has supported events and performances with his sound engineering skills for nearly 40 years and while he’s navigated his fair share of challenges, going through a pandemic has been the most unprecedented.

Watch Lyngard discuss the impact of the pandemic on the live music industry and how he is bringing awareness to the issues the industry faces through the #ForTheLoveofLIVE campaign.
