Pacific Marine Road between Port Renfrew and Lake Cowichan will be closed for 12 hours in July so crews can fix a failing culvert, according to Emcon Services.

The road contractor says the full road closure is scheduled from 7 p.m. on July 11 to 7 a.m. on July 12, when crews are scheduled to install a bridge at Hidden Culvert.

Emcon adds that the project is being carried out at night to minimize disruption to the public and industry.

“Apologies for any inconvenience,” it says on X (formerly Twitter).

Pacific Marine Road is part of the Pacific Marine Route, a more than 250-km loop road that starts and ends in Victoria on southern Vancouver Island.

“A road with varied landscapes, stops and views, the loop is a popular trek amongst driving enthusiasts,” says Tourism Vancouver Island on its website.
