The road to stardom begins with a few pointed steps at Ballet Victoria

WATCH: Ballet Victoria is an incubator for up-and-coming dancers to get on stage and shine.

Later this month, Ballet Victoria will be presenting its annual holiday offering, “The Gift,” an original ballet by artistic director Paul Destrooper.

The performance stars the company’s principal dancer Andrea Bayne. Behind her, two young dancers have dreams of their own.

Twenty-year-old North Van native Geneva Frampton has been with the company for about a year now but unlike most in this art-form, Geneva didn’t start dancing until she was 13.

Her background from a very young age was gymnastics, a skill which transferred well into dancing.

Also in this production is a 10-year-old protege, Katharine Morley, a member of the ballet’s conservatory program,  who was struck with the vision of centre stage when she just three.

The two are 10 years apart in age yet each has seven years of experience.

You can catch Andrea, Geneva, Katharine and the entire company in The Gift, Dec. 28, 29 and 30 at the Royal Theatre in Victoria.
