Special weather statement ended for parts of Vancouver Island, snow still possible at higher elevations

Heavy snow falls in Highway 18 in the Cowichan Valley on Jan. 11.

Environment Canada has lifted a special weather statement for parts of Vancouver Island, which called for snow and freezing rain.

 

Slushy conditions were seen on the Malahat around 2 p.m. and heavy snow is falling in the Cowichan Valley. Two to four centimetres is expected in the Cowichan Valley and the Malahat throughout Thursday evening.

A winter storm warning is in effect for the central and eastern Fraser Valley.
