The Beaver Creek Volunteer Fire Department is mourning the sudden passing of Assistant Chief Gord Jones.

“Together with family and friends, we mourn the loss of our brother,” the department says in a Facebook post.

Jones was a founding member of the volunteer fire department, and was active for 45 years.

“Gord’s commitment to the firehall and everything he did was outstanding,” the post says. “He could always be counted on for his assistance no matter the time of day and seldom missed a call.”

The department says Jones was regarded with esteem and respect within fire service.

“Rest easy Chief. We have the watch from here,” the notice says.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Jones at the fire hall on Jan. 7, 2023 at 1 p.m.
