There are nearly 450 museums across B.C., and representatives from many of those institutions gathered at the Royal BC Museum in early November.

It’s the first in-person conference in three years put on by the BC Museum Association. Organizers with the BCMA say much has changed in the industry, and their institutions need to change in order to stay relevant.

Miranda Jimmy, a cultural consultant and member of Thunderchild First Nation on the Saskatchewan side of Treaty Six, was a guest speaker at the event. Jimmy’s goal is to move from words around Reconciliation to action, giving some practical tools to take back to their institutions.

Several speakers and events were held at the RBCM and venues across Victoria.
