North Cowichan / Duncan RCMP hope the community can identify a truck and its driver following a reported road rage incident that took place on Nov. 24.

In a police report, RCMP say that the incident occurred at around 4:30 p.m. in the northbound direction along the Trans Canada Highway.

Officers received a report from a driver that said while he was approaching Chemainus, another vehicle was tailgating him and flashing high beams.

“When both vehicles came to a stop at the red light at Henry Road, the male driver of the tailgating vehicle exited his truck and hit the window of the caller’s vehicle, causing it to shatter,” reads a statement in the police report.

The driver who reported the incident sustained minor injuries as a result of the shattering window, according to RCMP.

Police note that the suspect vehicle turned onto Smiley Road when the light turned green.

Investigators are currently looking for the suspect and hope the public can help identify the suspect. The truck involved is being described as a Ford F-150 with a caved-in bumper and an unknown logo on the side. Police add that it may have been a crew cab as well.

The driver was described as a thin Caucasian man with patchy facial hair.

Police say both vehicles were travelling in the left lane of the Trans Canada Highway.

“If you are involved in a road rage incident, don’t respond with anger or aggression to the other driver. Stay in a public area and do not confront other people involved. Ask a passenger or use voice command to call 911 if you are threatened or if you are concerned for your safety,” North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP advises.

Anyone able to identify the vehicle or the person involved in this incident is encouraged to call the police.
