Investigators in Duncan are searching for a pickup truck driver who allegedly struck a cyclist and left the scene in an apparent hit-and-run.

Mounties were called Thursday night at around 8:15 p.m. for a report of a cyclist struck in the intersection of Government Street and Canada Avenue.

Firefighters and paramedics also responded, and the cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses told RCMP they saw a dark-coloured Dodge pickup truck hit the cyclist before leaving the scene.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are now asking anyone who was in the area and saw the crash to call them at 250-748-5522.
