Comox Valley RCMP says a vehicle involved in a crash in Black Creek Saturday night was reported stolen from West Shore two days earlier.

Police were called for a report a driver fled the scene of a single-vehicle crash in the 8,000-block of Island Highway North around 10:45 p.m.

Investigators determined the vehicle involved had been stolen from West Shore on Thursday.

“We are looking for any witnesses who came upon the crash, or who saw a 1994 black Nissan Pathfinder associated to suspicious activity or driving erratically on September 15, or in the days before,” said Comox Valley RCMP Cst. Monika Terragni in a statement.

“All of the tips we receive from the public help us to establish who is associated to this stolen vehicle and what they were up to before the crash.”

The investigation is being assisted by the Integrated Forensic Identification Section.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Comox Valley RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
