Sooke RCMP issued a press release stating that search and rescue crews found what they believe is 38-year-old Timothy Ross' kayak in the ocean near McMillan Road, which is close to the launch area.

The kayak believed to belong to a missing Langford man has been recovered.

Timothy Ross, 38, launched his kayak from the Ella Road area in Sooke on Jan. 10 at around 12:55 p.m. and was supposed to return home at around 4 p.m. that day but never did.

On Wednesday, Sooke RCMP issued a press release stating that search and rescue crews found what they believe is Ross’ kayak in the ocean near McMillan Road, which is close to the launch area.

They say search and rescue efforts are still ongoing and are now in the area near the location where the kayak was found.

Described as an experienced kayaker, Ross was reported missing to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre at around 7 p.m. on Sunday, triggering a massive air and marine search. A Cormorant helicopter and Buffalo aircraft were deployed and three Canadian Coast Guard vessels along with a U.S. Coast Guard vessel also joined in the search.

Sooke RCMP say they continue to investigate the disappearance of Ross and are appealing to anyone with information, or were on the water or near the coastline between Sooke and Jordan River on January 10th to please call their office at 250-642-5241.
