RCMP investigating after $30,000 portable sawmill stolen from Nanaimo property

Mounties in Nanaimo are investigating after they say thieves stole a portable sawmill from a rural property earlier this month.

In a news release, Nanaimo RCMP say that sometime between Oct. 17 and Oct. 23, a Wood-Mizer LT40 portable sawmill was taken from a residence in the 3200-block of Jingle Pot Road.

Mounties say the sawmill was behind a locked gate when the thieves cut the lock off, then drove approximately 75 metres along the driveway and hitched it to either a pickup or car and towed it off the property.

RCMP say the stolen sawmill is valued at approximately $30,000 and has a serial number 456B4241-03NDJ6919J6.05.
