Oceanside RCMP are searching for those responsible for stealing a cash machine from a Parksville Shell gas station just after midnight on Tuesday.

At 12:15 a.m., police received a commercial alarm notification from the business in French Creek.

Police arrived to find that an unknown suspect had forced their way in through the front doors and entered wheeling a dolly.

In less than 75 seconds, the man was able to forcefully remove the ATM and wheel out the entire unit to a waiting vehicle.

RCMP say there was a similar theft attempted at a local resort the night before that was thwarted by staff.

They are warning businesses in the area to be vigilant.

If you have any information regarding the theft, call the Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
