Police say the death of a 58-year-old man whose body was found in bushes near the Nanaimo Parkway last week is suspicious.

The man’s body was found at around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, near Tamara Drive, just east of the Nanaimo Parkway.

The man couldn’t be revived despite the best efforts of police, fire and paramedics and was pronounced dead.

“The deceased did sustain several injuries which investigators are attempting to understand how and when they may have occurred,” Nanaimo RCMP spokesman Const. Gary O’Brien said in a statement.

The BC Coroners Service is also investigating the man’s death.

Police are seeking possible dash cam or cell phone video of either Nanaimo Parkway or Tamara Drive that was taken between 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 and quote file number 2021-11524.

Members of the Vancouver Island Tactical Team will be in the area where the body was found Thursday to conduct a ground search, Nanaimo RCMP said.
