The Royal Canadian Air Force snowbirds will take to the skies over Nanaimo on Wednesday evening.

431 Squadron will be flying over Nanaimo Harbour between 6 p.m. and 6:45 pm.

The City of Nanaimo says the aerial show is free to attend and will be centered above and in front of the boat basin by the historic Bastion.

Crowds should also have a good vantage point anywhere along the waterfront between the Nanaimo Yacht Club and Cameron Island.

“We are honoured to host some of the best pilots from the Royal Canadian Air Force when the Snowbirds come to Nanaimo for their special performance over our harbour,” said Nanaimo mayor Leonard Krog.

“At speeds of 600 km/hr, a large amount of skill and expertise is required.”

After the snowbirds performance, the South Island Rhythm Kings will be on stage at Maffeo Sutton Park performing for the free Concerts in the Park series.
