Officials say one man suffered minor injuries after he was allegedly assaulted at Nanaimo’s Discontent City.

Nanaimo RCMP say they responded around 10:30 a.m. Monday after they received reports of the man’s vehicle being pelted by rocks.

They believe he may be a member of the Alliance Against Displacement and was dropping someone off at the property when his vehicle began to be hit.

Officers say 15 individuals were involved, the man was released from B.C. Emergency Health Services and was said to not press charges.

The Alliance Against Displacement is the group that recently lead a protest that occupied an empty elementary school in Nanaimo. The groups says it was in an effort to protest a court injunction requiring campers to leave their tent city soon and the displacement and the lack of affordable housing in the city for the homeless.

Residents at Nanaimo's tent city have 21 days to leave the city. An injunction was granted to the city on Sept. 21, 2018.
