One person is dead and several were injured in a stabbing in Port Alberni on Friday, according to RCMP.

Officers were called to the 3600-block of 4th Avenue where four people were found with knife wounds, including one person identified as the suspect, Port Alberni RCMP said in a news release Monday.

One of the four has died, and the other three are suffering serious but not-life-threatening injuries.

“Officers from our Major Crime Section spent the night investigating and will continue until all of the details have been unearthed,” stated Const. Richard Johns. “All persons involved in the incident are identified and the investigation is under control”

In an email to CHEK News, Staff Sgt. Kris Clark, senior media relations officer with the BC RCMP, says what led to the stabbing will not be released at this time.

“The circumstances leading up to the stabbing remain subject of the investigation and are not being released at this time,” Clark said. “We can confirm that this was an isolated incident and we don’t believe there is any ongoing risk to the public.”
