Port Alberni crews fight brush fire on 4th and Redford

The Port Alberni Fire Department says no structures are threatened in a brush fire on July 8, 2024.

The Port Alberni Fire Department is responding to a brush fire at the corner of 4th Avenue and Redford Street.

In a post on Facebook, the fire department says there are no structures threatened at this time, and the spread has been stopped.

The Port Alberni Fire Department says firefighters got the call at 5:10 p.m. and the fire spread to about 20 by 30 feet in size.

The fire was confined to the backyard and the cause is unknown at this time.

People were home at the time, allowing for early detection. There were no injuries and the fire was confined to one yard. A number of shrubs and greenery

Port Alberni has a high fire rating and the fire department asks that people be mindful of the dry conditions.
