The Oak Bay Police Department is investigating after receiving reports about a suspicious man in the area of the rec centre.

The Oak Bay Police Department is investigating after receiving reports about a suspicious man in the area of the rec centre.

In a police report issued on Monday, it highlights that an initial report about the man was received on Friday, January 1.

According to the release, a 14-year-old complainant advised officers that around 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 30, she was walking in the area of Oak Bay Recreation Centre with friends and observed a man place a small teddy bear on the sidewalk.

The 14-year-old told police that after she picked it up, the man approached and engaged in conversation.

Oak Bay Police said that the same complainant saw the man in the same area again on Monday morning, while also seeing the bear on the sidewalk.

The male is described as 25-35 years old and standing around 6 feet tall. He is estimated to be about 190 pounds, has black hair, and was said to be riding a white bicycle.

After each report, police officers said they have attended the area to look for the man while making inquiries with residents in the neighbourhood.

The matter is currently under investigation, according to Oak Bay Police Department.
