Police say they are now investigating the death of a man found on a street in Port Alberni as a homicide.
Officers responded to Port Alberni Friendship Center, located in the 3500-block of Fourth Avenue, and located a deceased male on the sidewalk at around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
Port Alberni RCMP say the victim, a 20-year-old man, was stabbed in the chest and are now investigating his death as a homicide.
“Police believe the suspect and victim knew each other and there is no ongoing risk to the general public,” Sgt. Clayton Wiebe of the Port Alberni RCMP, said in a media release issued Sunday evening.
RCMP say the 20-year-old man was from the Port Alberni and Ahousat area.
