Nanaimo RCMP say a pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Hammond Bay Road at around 3:15 p.m.
Police said the collision happened near the intersection of Hammond Bay Road and Brigantine Way. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital. Police said the driver remained at the scene and is co-operating with investigators.
Hammond Bay Road from Rutherford Road to Brickyard Road is closed until further notice. Drivers are asked to use alternative routes.
