If you’re planning on parking at a major ferry terminal this weekend, you might want to reconsider.

BC Ferries is warning that pay parking facilities have reached capacity at a number of their terminals including Swartz Bay, Duke Point and Departure Bay. Parking capacity has also been reached at Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay terminals as well as Langdale.

“Parking facilities for our Metro Vancouver to Vancouver Island and Sunshine Coast routes are expected to have limited space for the rest of the Thanksgiving weekend. If travelling as a foot passenger, please consider taxi service, public transit, the BC Ferries Connector Bus or being dropped off at the terminal,” BC Ferries said in a statement posted on their website.

The company says there is an alternative parking option for those departing from the Tsawwassen terminal via the Park & Go lot that is located before the start of the Tsawwassen causeway.
