UPDATE: More than 200 BC Hydro customers remain without power following a rollover crash in Langford that saw one person have to be taken to hospital for injuries.

Langford fire responded to the crash around 5:30 pm on Jacklin Road, near Sooke road.

They were called when Colwood fire attended another traffic mishap nearby when they heard the single-vehicle crash.

The vehicle sheared off a power pole and hydro lines were down, so BC Hydro crews were called to disconnect the power, which affected 789 customers.

BC Hydro says the estimated time is 5 a.m. for power to be restored to the remaining 223 customers.

A lone occupant was unable to get out of the vehicle on his own, but Colwood and Langford firefighters help the man get out.

He was taken to hospital and his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

“The car wasn’t energized so it allowed us to assist the occupant to get out, so. That was very fortunate,” Langford Fire Chief Chris Aubrey said.

“Otherwise we would have to wait for hydro to disconnect the power completely. But fortunately for us, that wasn’t the case and we didn’t have to use the jaws of life.”

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
