A Tuesday afternoon power outage in downtown Victoria has left more than 1,800 people in the dark, according to BC Hydro.

A July 12 notice from the company says power for 1,811 customers east of Harbour Road, north of Southgate Street, south of Blanshard Street and west of Cook Street has been out since 1:02 p.m.

In its latest update, BC Hydro said crews were assigned and en route to get the power restored.

Both the B.C. Legislature and Fairmont Empress Hotel are located within the outage area, with the latter currently hosting day two of the summer meeting of Canada’s Premiers.
