After a subreddit discovery, local “Swifties” now know they can visit a street in Victoria where a lyric video was shot for a record on Taylor Swift’s Folklore Album.
The lyric video for the song “Betty”, released in July, looks as though it was filmed on Brooke Street in the Fairfield area.
It features a slow-motion shot of the street heading east, passing Brook Street Park on the right. The video of the street repeats itself, as lyrics pop up on the screen to go along with the music.
It also looks as though it was shot in the fall, as there are leaves on the ground, however it is unknown if this was stock footage purchased by Taylor Swift’s team, or if someone shot the scene specifically for the video.
The filming location was discovered and discussed on a Taylor Swift subreddit.
One user took the time to visit the spot on Brooke Street to confirm.
“I went to the place on Google Maps and looked closely at the house and I really think it’s the place. Also, the fence on the right getting shorter and then the trash can where it ends,” said the Reddit-user.
Another commenter said she compared the Google Street View to one-minute and three seconds into the video and believes this Fairfield neighbourhood is the correct place, comparing the houses on the left and the goalposts on the field to the ones in the video.
“Maybe this is justice for the fact she didn’t come to B.C. during [the Reputation] tour. I’m ‘shook’ that Betty’s street has been discovered,” said the user.
This discovery comes as Taylor Swift announces her ninth album, evermore, to be released at midnight on Thursday.
I’m elated to tell you that my 9th studio album, and folklore’s sister record, will be out tonight at midnight eastern. It’s called evermore.
