Police in Oak Bay are investigating after they say a woman physically assaulted an elderly man after he denied her from entering his home.

According to the Oak Bay Police Department, an 85-year-old man residing at a residence on Hall Road heard a knock at his front door at around 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 3.

Believing it was a newspaper delivery person, Oak Bay Police say the man opened the door and was instead greeted by a young woman wearing a long black coat and skirt who allegedly said “I am coming in.”

After being denied entry, a struggle ensued and the woman ended up pushing the man, who was caught by a neighbour that had rushed over when they heard what was going on.

Oak Bay Police say the woman then fled the scene and was chased by the neighbour for a short distance. The neighbour managed to capture a photograph of the woman.

The elderly man was shaken, but unharmed.

Despite extensive patrols and neighbourhood inquiries, Oak Bay Police say they could not locate the woman and are hoping the public can help them.

The woman is described as being about 5’6 and between 20-25 years of age with dark brown hair. She was last seen on Beach Drive heading down Foul Bay Road wearing a black coat, long black skirt, ruffled white ankle socks, white t-shirt, black leather shoes and a yellow hat.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oak Bay Police Department at 250-592-2424.
