The Oak Bay Police Department is seeking witnesses after a cyclist was hit by a vehicle near Cattle Point over the weekend.

The Oak Bay Police Department is seeking witnesses after a cyclist was hit by a vehicle over the weekend.

In a police report issued on Monday, Oak Bay PD says that the incident occurred near the turn-off to Cattle Point just after 3 p.m. on January 23.

Police say that the collision involved a beige van with a BC license plate.

The driver of the van has been described as being over 70 years of age. According to the report, the driver of the beige van stopped following the collision, spoke with a second cyclist at the scene, but then left without providing any information.

The injured cyclist was taken to hospital. Police say that the cyclist sustained possible stress fractures, scrapes to his face, abrasions, and bruising on his leg.

He has since been released from hospital, according to the report.

The Oak Bay Police Department is searching for any possible witnesses of the collision to contact their non-emergency line at 250-592-2424.

Police also are seeking anyone with possible dashcam footage that may have been in the vicinity of Cattle Point around 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
