Former CIS wrestling champion Steve Rennals moved to Victoria recently, looking for somewhere to train. Once he found ZUMA, he began doing wrestling classes offered by the gym. It was there he met with Michael Cappus, who had the idea of starting a wrestling club, and the two began laying down the work to get it done. Starting in September, the Victoria Wrestling Club began with the basics, and over time, the athletes turned the corner. At a recent tournament in Campbell River, the club brought home four medals, two gold and two silver. Those within the club say it’s the beginning of something great.
