Superflux Beer Company is preparing to launch its full-service, “future-retro” hotel diner-themed restaurant, Superflux Cabana, in Victoria this Friday.
The restaurant, which was announced back in July and is located at 804 Broughton St., will officially open at 4 p.m. Nov. 12 and offer visitors “a casual spot to socialize, an extensive food menu and an assortment of Superflux beers on tap, among other beverages.”
The imaginative and slightly irreverent design was conceived from Vancouver-based firm Studio Roslyn and aims at bringing a sense of “hedonism and nostalgia” to the vibe of the space.
Inside, Superflux Cabana will hold 55 guests with casual, banquet-style seating and a bar that basks under an original Renaissance-style painting that feels like it would make even Michaelangelo wish he was associated with the brand.

The interior decor has an intimate, ’70s Las Vegas hotel bar feel to it, including an indoor water feature and cuckoo clock.
The 1,800-square-foot space offers even more promise as next spring, an additional 60 guests will be able to enjoy food and drink on its spacious rooftop patio.
As for what guests can expect from the menu, the staff says the food will match the environment.
“We’re giving the menu a nostalgic, future-retro hotel diner theme,” says co-founder Adam Henderson. “The food will suit the overall atmosphere of Superflux Cabana – cool and intriguing with a bit of lavish, high-end flavour thrown in there.”
Chef Matthew Harvey adds, “I’m excited to bring Superflux’s purpose to ’Do Cool Sh** and Bring Happyness™’ to life with these playful and great tasting dishes.”

The new restaurant’s menu offers appetizers between $12-$22 and mains between $16-$19, with a variety of options, according to the company’s website. Visitors will have the option of enjoying crab rolls, smoked cream cheese and salmon rillette, meat and cheese plates and burgers.
Guests will also enjoy dishes such as a Southern-Style Fried Fish Sandwich, Beef Carpaccio, Smoked Chicken Cobb Salad and a house approach on a Veggie Club.
On Friday’s launch, the restaurant will also include 10 draught Superflux beers, a few local guest draught beers, local wine, and a limited list of house cocktails.
To access the bar, guests will head up a flight of stairs from Broughton Street.
During opening weekend, the restaurant will be open Saturday, November 13 from 4 p.m. to midnight and Sunday, November 14 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Throughout the fall and winter months, the restaurant will be open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to midnight.
Cabana will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and no reservations are being accepted at this time.
The restaurant is a first for Superflux, which opened its brewery and tasting lounge in Vancouver last summer.
