WATCH: Johnathan Robichaud, the Central Saanich nanny charged with child sex offences, had an extensive history with Glad Tidings Church in Victoria.

Thirty-year-old Johnathan Robichaud, the Central Saanich nanny charged with child sex offences, had an extensive history with Glad Tidings Church in Victoria.

Lead Pastor Andy Moore told CHEK News that Robichaud grew up in the church and spent many of his preteen and teenage years there.

“We never saw anything that was concerning to us in his behaviour. He was never domineering or difficult individual, very compliant,” Moore said. “He was just happy to be around, happy to be included… anything we put on, he would show up.”

CHEK News has also learned that Robichaud has previously been charged with possessing child pornography back in 2014, for which he was found not guilty in 2015.

Moore says the church was contacted by police at the time and that none of its members were involved.

“Any conversations we had, there was a surprise, obviously there was a concern from parents. And we said, ‘If you have any concern, you should certainly talk to the Victoria Police Department,'” Moore said.

Moore also said Robichaud did not raise any red flags during his time at the church.

“Standard procedure is the criminal record check and then also personal references that we would look into, which, honestly, for a guy like Johnny, wouldn’t have been hard because everybody knew him at church,” he said.
