A Vancouver Island music phenom has notched another career highlight in her belt at only 18 years old, this time performing for tens of thousands of people in England’s iconic Wembley Stadium.

Lauren Spencer-Smith, who has already gone viral on TikTok and performed on American Idol, shared the same stage as musicians Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran at the Capital Summertime Ball on Sunday.

Spencer-Smith posted a snippet of her performance, a cover of Lewis Capaldi’s Someone You Loved, to TikTok with the crowd enthusiastically singing along.

“@Capital thank u for having me,” she wrote to her 3.4-million followers on the social media platform.

The Nanaimo native has been receiving millions of views on YouTube and TikTok, landing her on American Idol in 2020. In 2022, her self-released song Fingers Crossed broke charts in a number of countries including the U.S. and U.K.

Last fall, she told CHEK News she’s grateful for all the people on Vancouver Island who have supported her and her music and said she had recently obtained a visa so she can begin touring in the U.S.

She has upcoming performances booked at the Bowery Ballroom in New York, Velvet Underground in Toronto and the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, according to her website.
