
Of the seven electoral areas in the Nanaimo Regional District, four are up for election, while three are acclaimed to their roles.
Vanessa Craig for Electoral Area B (Gabriola & Surrounding Islands), Bob Rogers for Electoral Area E (Nanoose), and Stuart McLean for Electoral Area H (Shaw Hill, Deep Bay, Bowser) are acclaimed to their roles.
Areas A, B, C, and E will vote on school trustees in Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District.
Areas Areas E, F, G, and H will vote on trustees in the Qualicum School District.
There will be two advance voting days. On Oct. 5 the following voting locations will operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
On Oct. 12, the following will operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Then on general voting day, the following voting locations will operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voters can also apply to vote by mail.
Electoral Area A (South Wellington, Cassidy, Cedar) has four people running: Carl Delcourt, Kate Poirier, Jessica Stanley, and the incumbent Keith Wilson.
Electoral Area C (Extension, East Wellington, Pleasant Valley) has five people up for election: Mark MacDonald, Lauren Melanson, the incumbent Charles Pinker, Dean Toma, and Susan Toth.
Two people are seeking the seat in Electoral Area F (Coombs, Hilliers, Errington): Kevin Goldfuss and the incumbent Leanne Salter.
Electoral Area G (Dashwood, Englishman River, French Creek) also has two people running: Doug Kitts and the incumbent Lehann Wallace.
In 2018, 6,809 people voted for a voter turnout of 27.5 per cent.
