Several guns and illicit drugs seized during an arrest in Nanaimo.

The Nanaimo RCMP say a 44-year-old man has been arrested after police found a loaded shotgun in his vehicle.

Mounties say that on June 13 a Nanaimo RCMP officer saw a man who the officer knew was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle, park and exit from the driver’s side of a Chevrolet truck.

The officer arrested the male for breaching the conditions of his bail order. After further investigation of the vehicle, the officer discovered a bottle of pills that the officer believed were illicit prescription drugs, other bottles of drugs, a loaded 12 gauge shotgun, a replica firearm, thousands of dollars in cash, several ounces of fentanyl. Mounties say the officer also found hundreds of pills suspected to be illicit prescription opiates.

Roger Ian Der, of Nanaimo, has been charged with 15 counts of weapon and drug related charges.

The charges include possession of a firearm contrary to his probation order, careless storage of a firearm, five counts of trafficking and fail to comply with his probation order.
