Nanaimo head-on collision sends four to hospital

Four people were taken to the hospital after a head-on collision in Nanaimo on Saturday.

The crash happened on Bruce Avenue, just south of Eighth Street, when the driver of a red pickup truck veered into oncoming traffic and collided with another truck.

All four occupants of the two vehicles were brought to hospital with minor injuries.

“Today so far…we’ve had two significant motor vehicle incidents and also a fully involved car fire in the north end,” said Dan Multari, captain with Nanaimo Fire.

Nanaimo Fire says they are investigating what led to the driver veering into oncoming traffic.

According to ICBC’s crash map, the intersection at Bruce and Eighth had eight crashes between 2018 and 2022.
