Passengers on a recent Air Canada flight from Nanaimo are being warned about possible exposure to COVID-19.

The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) has added Air Canada flight 8262 from Nanaimo to Vancouver on Dec. 30 to its COVID-19 exposure list.

The affected rows on the flight are rows 7 to 13.

The flight was among a number of flights added to the BCCDC’s list on Sunday. Other flights that were added included Korean Air flight KE72 from Vancouver to Seoul on Dec. 29 and United Airlines flight UA4769 from San Francisco to Vancouver on Dec. 28.

It is also the first Island flight to be added to the province’s COVID-19 exposure list this year. The last time an Island flight was added to the list was on Dec. 30, when three WestJet flights were identified.

BCCDC says passengers who were on a flight that has been added to the province’s COVID-19 exposure list should self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days and those who were sitting in rows identified are considered to be at a higher risk of exposure due to their proximity.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, chills, cough or worsening of chronic cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of sense of smell or taste, runny nose, headache and fatigue.
