Skiers and snowboarders can get ready to hit the slopes as Mount Washington Alpine Resort is opening this Friday.
The resort said limited mountain operations will begin Dec. 20 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with night skiing in effect.
The open terrain will include Coaster, the Easy Acres zone as well as the Tube Park and limited Nordic operations, with more terrain opening as snow conditions allow. Early season lift ticket pricing will be in effect based on open terrain.
The resort said they are celebrating the opening with the Season-Opener Après presented by Vancouver Island Brewing in Ted’s, kicking off Friday at 3:30 p.m. with live music, featured seasonal draft pours, prizes and more.
Last week, Mount Washington received its first significant snowfall of the season, with 32 centimetres of snow.
Mount Washington is located 30 minutes north of the Comox Valley.
