A statement on the Mount Washington Alpine Resort website says the ski hill is closed today, Jan. 21, due to heavy snow and a high avalanche risk.

Travellers are advised not drive on the road to the resort.

Mount Washington has received 80 centimetre of new snow overnight and 105 cm in the last 24 hours.

Mount Cain, which received 90 cm of snow in the last 24 hours, is open and all lifts are operating.

Sure glad we went yesterday for a full day of powder, as Mount Washington is closed today b/c too much snow 😂
