Victoria police are seeking help from the public to find a stolen electric mobility scooter that its owner relies on to do daily tasks, like getting to work and appointments.
The scooter was stolen on Aug. 30 from a workplace in the 600-block of Superior Street after thieves cut a bicycle lock meant to secure it, according to VicPD in a news release.
“The scooter’s owner, who has mobility concerns, requires the scooter to attend work, grocery shop and to get to medical appointments,” police said. “The scooter’s theft has had a significant negative impact on their day-to-day life.”
VicPD describe the scooter as a cherry-red Shoprider brand with four wheels, and say there were Christmas lights on its canopy and a canvas carry bag at the rear.
Anyone who knows where the scooter is or has information about the theft is asked to call VicPD at 250-995-7654 extension 1. Tipsters can make an anonymous report by calling Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
