A student suffered minor injuries Monday morning following a collision at a crosswalk near Royal Bay Secondary School in Colwood.
Police say they were called to the intersection near Latoria and Wishart roads just before 9 a.m.
According to West Shore RCMP, a student was walking to school and crossing at the crosswalk at the intersection. There was already a vehicle in the intersection at the time, police said.
Police said it appears from witnesses that the student likely didn’t see a vehicle was already in the crosswalk intersection at the time.
According to police, the vehicle was not speeding.
The Sooke School District said the student’s parents were contacted and the school will provide support and counselling to any students or staff who require it. Classes at Royal Bay Secondary went ahead as scheduled on Monday.
