A man was taken to hospital Monday afternoon after he was ejected from his convertible during a crash on Vanier Drive in Courtenay.
Emergency crews were called to the crash scene at around 2:15 p.m.
A driver in a convertible going east apparently rolled several times in a “high velocity” crash, officials said.
The driver did not appear to be wearing a seatbelt. He was conscious when two ambulances arrived and was taken to hospital in Courtenay. He was the only person in the vehicle.
First responders at the scene said the man was very lucky he was not seriously hurt.
