Man punched in the face by random attacker at Victoria bus stop: police

A man was arrested after he allegedly punched another man in the face in an apparent random attack at a Victoria bus stop Sunday morning.

Officers were called to Shelbourne at Denman streets just after 9 a.m. and found the victim suffering non-life threatening injuries.

He told investigators a stranger approached him and verbally confronted him before punching him once in the face and leaving.

A witness told police the man headed toward the 2200-block of Shelbourne Street. Officers found a man in the area matching the suspect’s description and took him into custody.

The suspect has since been released from custody with a future court date and conditions.

Police say the victim declined medical treatment.
