VicPD say one man was arrested following a Tuesday night robbery call that saw officers seize a baseball bat, a knife and clips for a replica firearm.

According to police, officers were called to the 400-block of Cecelia Road just after 9 p.m. following a report that a man armed with a bat was chasing another man calling out for help.

As officers responded, more witnesses called police to report that the suspect had allegedly threatened to shoot the victim during the chase, and that the victim had attempted to enter peoples’ vehicles to escape.

“Officers arrived and located the victim, who had not been physically injured. Officers learned that the suspect had robbed the victim and left the scene,” VicPD said in a Wednesday news release.

Police say officers then located the suspect in the 400-block of Burnside Road, arrested him and, during their search of the man, found a concealed knife in his waistband, a shortened wooden bat and clips for a replica firearm.

“Once officers identified the suspect, they learned he was in breach of multiple court-ordered conditions, including conditions not to possess knives,” VicPD said, noting he was then transported to VicPD cells and held for morning court.

Anyone with information about the incident who has not yet spoken to police is asked to call VicPD’s report desk at 250-995-7654 extension 1.
