Leadership Victoria seeks nominations for their annual community leadership awards

Leadership Victoria is an organization dedicated to developing community leaders across Greater Victoria.

Founded in 2001, the organization has been recognizing graduates of their six-month Community Leadership Development Program for nearly 20 years.

“The [Victoria Community Leadership] Awards program supports the unsung heroes — people who are making a massive local difference in our community. We’ve celebrated over 200 folks during that time,” says Mark Crocker, executive director of the non-profit organization.

One of those VCLA award recipients is Elysia Glover.

“In 2018, I was in the Community Leadership Development program,” says Glover. “Before that, I’d always thought of leadership as one strong, charismatic individual doing it all themselves. I quickly realized that leadership was about knowing what your strengths were, knowing what your ‘not-strengths’ were, and learning how to work with others to tackle some complex problems that we were all facing in our communities.”

Now, Leadership Victoria is ready to recognize this year’s emerging leaders and that’s where the public comes in.

“One very specific way that you can get involved right now is with our Victoria Community Leadership Awards. Nominations are wide open. We ask you to nominate a local leader who you believe is making a substantial difference in our community.”
