Two people are safe, but a fire in Oyster River Thursday night destroyed the home they were living in.
Oyster River fire received a call at 11:26 p.m. and went to the blaze at a single family rancher on Colwin Road, where they found eight-foot flames coming from the building.
“I was the first one on scene,” explained Oyster River Fire Chief Bruce Green. “When I showed up on scene the fire was active, the fire and smoke was actively coming out the patio doors. It spread pretty quickly, there was a lot of cedar tongue and groove on the walls and the ceiling which would?ve helped it spread pretty quickly.”
A man and woman were able to escape unharmed.
Crews remained at the scene until the early morning hours.
Crews just returning from second major structure fire in less than a week. Paged out at 1130pm yesterday and just finishing cleaning and returning the truck to service at 5:30am. Now they are heading to their day jobs. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated crew. pic.twitter.com/PSQILadFdb
