King oyster mushrooms sold in B.C. recalled due to listeria concerns

A brand of king oyster mushrooms sold in British Columbia is being recalled after testing detected possible listeria contamination.

The recall affects TWA Fungi brand King Oyster Mushrooms sold on or before Canada Day, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

The 200-gram packages include the UPC code 6 957937 480051.

Anyone who has the affected product is advised not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the mushrooms.

The CFIA warns that food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can make you sick, with symptoms including vomiting, nausea, fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. In severe cases, the bacteria can even prove fatal.

The CFIA reports that so far, there have been no reported illnesses associated with eating the mushrooms.
