Good news was announced from Island Health this morning as the authority has declared the outbreak at Veterans Memorial Lodge over.

Veterans Memorial Lodge is a long-term care facility located at 4579 Chatterton Way in the Greater Victoria area.

“With the implementation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in long-term care, there are no longer any COVID-19 cases related to the outbreak at the site,” reads a statement from Island Health.

The outbreak was declared by the health authority back on Nov. 29 after one staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

Following the outbreak declaration, extensive follow-up testing ensued and Island Health states that no other cases in residents or staff were identified.

“Upon declaring the outbreak, Island Health and Broadmead Care took immediate action to support the home in its response to protect the health of all residents and staff,” the health authority said.

“The team at Veterans Memorial Lodge is to be commended for their exceptional work during this challenging time.”

According to the health authority, adult day programs and Veterans Health Centre programs and services will resume on Dec. 14.

Essential visits and scheduled social visits will also resume on Dec. 12.

Veterans Memorial Lodge is a non-profit care home operated by Broadmead Care.
