Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District says a hold and secure first reported Thursday morning has been lifted for eight schools.
Nanaimo RCMP said a youth had threatened self-harm and south end schools in Nanaimo were placed in a hold and secure, but the youth has been located.

The schools affected were John Barsby Secondary, Georgia Avenue, Park Avenue, Bayview, Brechin, Pauline Haarer, Fairview and Cilaire elementary schools.
The school district reported the hold and secure around 10:40 a.m.

John Barsby Secondary has entered a Hold & Secure – no one may enter or exit the school; normal activities resume within school.
