WATCH: Former Victoria Royals Captain Joe Hicketts made his NHL debut last night in New Jersey and he made a physical impact in his first game with the Detroit Red Wings.
Hicketts got called up on Sunday and travelled to New Jersey to take on the Devils on Monday night. Hicketts would finish the game with over 15 minutes of time on the ice, a shot on goal, a hit, three blocked shots and a +1 rating, being on the ice for the Red Wings’ first goal of the night.
After the game, Hicketts was sent back down to the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins, where he’s spent the last two seasons since leaving Victoria in 2016.
