Greater Victoria school trustee on leave pending an assault charge

Greater Victoria School District
Angela Carmichael will be on a leave of absence.

A Greater Victoria School District trustee has requested a leave of absence while she goes through court for an assault charge.

In a release, the school district says Angela Carmichael was charged with assault on Feb. 7 in Victoria.

The Greater Victoria School District says the assault charge is unrelated to her role as a trustee.

While the assault case is before the courts, Carmichael requested and was granted a leave of absence. During this period, she will not attend any board or committee meetings or any other trustee events.

The school district says it will not comment further while the case is before the courts.

The Times Colonist is reporting that Carmichael was ordered to not communicate or be in contact with her alleged victim.

She is also not permitted to volunteer or do work that would have her in contact with people under 16 unless she has the written permission of her bail supervisor.
