In this episode of Get Up and Grow, CHEK’s Hannah Lepine and Gord Nickel, president of Wildwood Outdoor Living Centre talk about Hens and Chicks, and we don’t mean the animals.
Hens and chicks — Sempervivum tectorum — is a succulent that does well planted in sandy soil. They usually come in greens and reddish purples.
In this segment, Gord shows Hannah a unique way to plant Hens and Chicks in a featherock planter.
Featherock is a lightweight, natural volcanic rock, also known as pumice. The rock is very easy to drill into, making it a one-of-a-kind planter for any plant, especially Hens and Chicks.
Gord then goes over watering and care, to ensure they thrive in your space.
