As storms continue to hit the B.C. Coast, a gale force wind warning has been issued for coastal sections of Vancouver Island.

Environment Canada says gale force winds of  34 to 47 knots are occurring or expected to occur in marine areas — around 62 to 87 Km/h.

The specific areas north to south are:

  • Queen Charlotte Strait
  • Central Coast from McInnes Island to Pine Island
  • Johnstone Strait
  • West Coast of Vancouver Island
  • Juan de Fuca Strait
  • Haro Strait

East Vancouver Island is under a rainfall warning until Tuesday, as total rainfall accumulations of 60 to 90 milimetres are expected.

The multiple storms heading to the coast are expected to also bring significant rain at lower elevations and significant alpine snow.

There is also a risk for a quick shot of snow for parts of Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.
